The Coming Woman

The Coming Woman is a feature length documentary about Victoria Claflin Woodhull, a polarizing and internationally known figure of the 19th century, who, despite being the first woman to run for president in 1872, the first to open a stock brokerage, and the first to own and run a national newspaper, is almost completely unknown today. She was one of the most famous women of her era. Newspapers called her “The Coming Woman” because of her views were so far ahead of the times. Her accomplishments were astounding in an era when women were considered property of their fathers or husbands, and yet she was mysteriously erased from history.
